  I was looking for a local dental hygienist, because my regular dentist no longer employed a hygienist. Heal's website gave the impression of a business with the ethical values that I look for. I was on the phone with the receptionist for an extended period of time while she endeavoured to book me in to the next available time slot with their hygienist. Upon arrival a lovely receptionist offered me a herbal tea (trendy, but I just wanted my teeth cleaned, so I declined). I filled out a details form and made a point of circling 'clean' only and not general exam because I just had an oral examination 6 months previously. When I was in the chair, Dr. Murray Orr introduced himself as the dentist. I stated I had made a point of requesting a dental hygienist when I booked the appointment. I was told I could rebook for another time if I wasn't happy. I wasn't happy, but I stayed put and let him proceed to clean my teeth after he poked around for a few minutes, and insulted work by a previous dentist. I felt sorry for the dental assistant. Dr. Orr's tone was condescending when he addressed her. At one point he said to her "Do I have to show you everything?" After the clean, I figured because I had the dentist I would ask him to put a dab of glue on my bottom retainer. The glue had just come away after seven years. It was a 3 minute job. As things were finishing up, I mentioned my daughter-n-law worked for a dentist who specialised in dentistry for children and physically challenged individuals - such as those with cerebral palsy. After confirming that dentist's name with me, Dr. Orr said, "I have better uses for my skills than putting kids to sleep to clean their teeth". My bill was $367.00 = a comprehensive oral exam (the one I noted on the form that I did not require) $90, removal of calculus $150, and recementing bridge or splint $127.00. One week later, the glue has broken away while I was eating a piece of broccoli in a salad. I booked in with my orthodontist to have it reglued and the orthodontist charges $65. So, unless you want to pay a fortune for a herbal tea or enjoy unethical and misogynistic behaviour, I would look past Heal's new age smoke screen, and go some place else.

  As soon as you walk into Heal Dental you realise this place is something special! Everything is state of the art with a clean and relaxing environment. I cannot thank Dr Murray enough for everything he has done. My case was not an easy one to take on board! After having numerous attempts by numerous dentists who had all failed miserably, Dr Murray agreed to see me and it was not the easiest of tasks but he went above and beyond, making sure we were both happy with the result. I have spent so much money and time trying to fix my teeth and it is only since seeing Dr Murray that I am finally able to move on and be happy with them. He is so honest and trustworthy and you really get the feeling that he does truly have your best interests at heart. I have more work to be done and will continue to fly interstate just to see him. Thanks Dr Murray and your team for everything you have done.

  I didn't go to the dentist for approximately 20 years because of childhood trauma. I finally decided to get proactive about my health and so made an appointment at Heal Dental. I have just enjoyed (yes, I mean that literally) my third visit with Dr Murray. He has a great personality and his passion is evident. The chatting and laughs do not detract from the fact that he is a highly skilled professional. It's a warm and welcoming environment with beautiful decor and very friendly staff. I highly recommend Heal Dental and I believe my husband and son would feel the same.
